In all seriousness AI scares me for what it can do to society but at the same time “If you know your enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles” - Sun Tzu

Yea that’s fair, ai is a tough pill to swallow. The bot is using Lemmy data but no ai generated content goes back to Lemmy (unless I have it set to report, then it submits a report to mods). If my Lemmy instance gains traction in my community I might have it run locally, but can’t have that option if the tooling doesn’t exist

This one was surprising in that it sort of broke the prompt to be a bit more heartfelt.
And yea, there’s user configurable prompt in settings but hardcoded at the end of the prompt is to start with “Yes” (to report) or “No”. There are tools which ollama can use, but I just wanted to use the models I wanted to, even if tool usage isn’t part of it

Yea I agree this is experimental, it’s not meant to replace anyone but I’ve been using it to sort of “browse” Lemmy. If moderators or admins want to use it to moderate a community or instance then that’s great, but if not it was just like 3 weekends of playing around. I had fun, and if it dies like the rest of my pet projects that’s fine too.

So many people, the greatest people have lost casinos. Everyone is saying it, look it up. Don’t listen to main sleam media, or as I like to call em liar poopoo faces.
Get good chud and chuddettes

I also didn’t know this, but really we should all be putting money behind FOSS (myself included). We don’t need billionaires.
Be the change you want to see in the world! Or not, but if you do lmk and I’ll subscribe
trump its a turn to autocratic neo-mercantalism.
Yea there’s that, also the rounding up minorities for a nationalistic reason… if only the English language offered some word for that. Squashing undesirables/enemies due to nationalism with rhetoric like them poisoning the blood, being vermin, etc. I seem to recall a history lesson or two if only I could remember. I feel it’s some odd word no one knows how to use anymore, I think it rhymes with plascism.

I spun up a mailcow instance relatively simply through elestio (new to me devops as a service). Takes a few clicks, let’s you pick your cloud provider and has pretty slick admin UI to manage firewalls and dockerfiles etc.
I’ve never setup an SMTP server before, but I’ve decided to with my “buy Canadian” initiative to eschew the tech-oligarchy at every turn I can. Not for Canadians sovereignty alone, but to help get rid the planet of billionaires by starving them of their capital.
But I digress, mailcow makes setting up DNS a breeze and elestio makes mailcow a breeze. I’ve actually spun up this Lemmy instance on elestio too, just so nice its a game changer. Here’s info about mailcow https://elest.io/open-source/mailcow and no I’m not affiliated with elestio, just seems solid thus far (only been using it for a month, but support is on point too).

You’ve obviously felt my pain. Maybe 6th install will take 🤞

Glad I just ditched Google… Might have to expedite removing data from their claws

Yea that’s kinda what I was thinking. Digital safety should be up to the individual, big companies should be fined and held accountable to the data they collect.
Its why I’m on Lemmy, I host my own instance and thus I own the data. I’ve moved my email and cloud backups to instances I own as well. I understand I’m a bit privileged that I can do such things, but I plan on helping others setup their own needs online if I can.
Unfortunately we’ve been on autopilot just taking online products and folding them into our lives without much forethought to the outcomes. Didn’t know democracy was at threat, but with hindsight it makes sense. Power is moving up the chain of command and could be lost to us labourers for the foreseeable future unless we take it back through our data.

While I do agree its a bit whack, I question if everything needs 100% safety to be legal?
If someone offers a dangerous thing and you sign a waiver, maybe motocross, if you get injured is it the owners fault? Why should an individual be free from onus?
That coupled with this ancient green text and we got a novella series in the works. Too bad its too far fetched to be unimaginable… 🫠

Can’t have transgender teens in school, if you you don’t have school! Checkmate atheists, i mean, liberals.
/s maybe, who knows what those chuds are doing anymore

Been looking for a DR system for Ubuntu or mint, need to look into it myself but would like some feedback if this could be the right ticket.
I just bought a raspberry pi 4 to host plex, I’m sure I could get it to do backup and restore too. Looking into it
Idk if its the best, its rather slow unless you have good video card. I’m sure with the right prompt and right hardware it could be a tool in a moderators toolset (turn it on when sleeping or something?).
There is a project LemmyWebhook I found (https://github.com/RikudouSage/LemmyWebhook) I was thinking of using it, then LemmyNanny would be able to see new content in real time instead of using a built in Lemmy feed. This would completely change the architecture and I think raise the barrier to entry (right now anyone can run it, but if you needed to install LemmyWebhook it’d require more technical skillset)
