I personally am not bothered at ALL by the banner video ads overlayed on top of another banner ad that opens a new tab when you try to close the banner video then another one opens covering the original banner then the page scrolls all the way back to the top and shows you an email list sign up, why would I be?

I’m guilty of marking legit emails as spam recently, a bunch of the emails I’ve been getting I’ve already tried unsubscribing multiple times and they keep coming (I’m looking at you, Threads) so I gave up and reported them as spam

The couple of reasons I jumped straight to it being a person are the streaks that really look like nail marks and the area I live in. People around here (without giving away EXACTLY where I live, of course) are either young and reckless or on some sort of drug (be it meth, opiates, etc). I can absolutely see someone walking up to it in a parking lot, seeing the already cracking clearcoat, and chipping away at it!

I was hoping to get some comments asking for more information so I could give more relevant answers, but everyone seems to be assuming I live in suntown USA!

Luckily no neighborhood beef, my closest neighbors live over a half mile away!

Just curious, did it also have those streaks? Obviously my first thought was fingernails (could be because I have the urge to peel cracking clear coat and I’m projecting lol). It’s just bizarre happening when it did, and where I live since it’s essentially been cloudy and overcast just about every day this month! I needed to get it fixed regardless, so no harm no foul I guess?

Not necessarily a stone chip, but likely a tree branch chip that started it! This is the rear wing on my car so I feel like a stone hitting it is a little unlikely, but ultimately not impossible I suppose. The spot wasn’t growing at all when I originally noticed it, then one day it was massive. I always took care around it because I obviously didn’t want to make it worse by washing it.

I suppose it’s possible that the horrendous rain around here did it though!

Yeah, I agree that it shouldn’t be hidden entirely, and luckily as it stands now it’s still visible on the view page if it’s hidden on the home page

That’s fair, and I’m more inclined to believe people on Lemmy would agree with your view thankfully! A lot of high view videos are for sure manufactured, and from what I can tell usually target children.

I guess we’ll see how the landscape changes if this sticks around? We’re all along for the ride, for the most part!

As someone who tries to regularly post videos on YouTube I think this would help me, since I’m sure many people (including me, unfortunately) avoid low view count videos.

But I can absolutely understand why you wouldn’t want it hidden. I’m sure this will lead to major misinformation clickbaiting (as if that isn’t already a problem!), but I believe that the view count will still be visible on the view page.

Is YouTube doing it with small creators actually in mind? Who knows, other than them?

Edit: I do want to clarify that I think hiding the date it was posted is just strange and would probably only lead to problems

I actually had starlink a while back, the latency was worse than my 5G/4G box so I didn’t stick with it
