Hopefully the fact that the republican party impeached Paxton will help turn people away from voting for him. He also famously committed fraud while in office. Even if they don’t vote for Talarico, less voters for Paxton is a good thing.
I’m saying that if Democrats fight for the people, they will see better voting outcomes. What does that have to do with the last election? Democrats didn’t fight for us from 2020-2024, so they lost voters, which is complimentary to my point.
It was great that Biden’s policies helped slow down inflation, but that’s pretty much all they did. There were no consequences for treason, no big investigations, no major reforms of the political system, no safeguards for rights put into place. The last thing a major Democrat did in TX was when Obama had tacos in Austin over 10 years ago.
Look at the voting record and it echoes my point.
In 2004, Bush 4.5 million, Kerry 2.8 million
In 2008, McCain 4.5 million, Obama 3.5 million after Obama ran a campaign about a better future giving us something to vote for
In 2010, the ACA passed
In 2012, Romney 4.6 million, Obama 3.3 million McConnell succeeded in preventing a lot of Democrat proposals from being passed and the democrats weren’t able to fulfill a lot of things during the tike before this election
In 2016, Trump 4.7 million, Clinton 3.9 million Marriage Equality had recently passed and Democrats proposed the Equality Act and were very vocal about the potential consequences of an election loss
In 2020, Trump 5.9 million, Biden 5.3 million, Democrats made promises and said they would fight for rights. Many democrats aligned themselves with protests and even with some tonedeaf messaging, attempted to show a united front against the chaos
In 2022, women lost the right to bodily autonomy In 2023, Women’s Health Protection Act was introduced but went nowhere
In 2024, Trump 6.4 million, Harris 4.8 million after democrats revealed the United front was a ruse and failed to follow through on issues that won them the 2020 election even though the threat of chaos was even worse than we had seen in 2020.
The repercussions for those democrats would be greater numbers of people voting for them in the future. Arizona and Texas have more population that are vulnerable to dhs attacks, so any house members against the impeachment are acting against their constituents. Sure the state government won’t like it, but it would at least be something they do for the people.

From what I remember in US History, about 1/3 of the populace wanted a revolution, 1/3 wanted to remain loyal to the king, and 1/3 didn’t care. We are currently around that territory with Trump.
I’d only heard of Hiltons. That Hampton Inn that was disenfranchised for refusing service to ICE was part of the Hilton brand. Hilton issued an apology to ICE/DHS. Also, I believe, the hotel that drew the loud protest overnight after Renee Good was murdered was a Hilton.

You mostly see it in the US where minorities speak more “white” in order to get/hold jobs and be treated with respect. Body language will change as well. It’s so much more than having a professional face at work and relaxed at home.
Probably more ammo, with a state Supreme Court comment allowing discrimination under guise of religious liberty. To have that opinion backed by the highest Court of a state somewhat legitimizes their case and may put more pressure on the conservative justices to allow sex-based discrimination again.
I wish it happened around W’s terms when the tea party formed to pull votes from Republicans. The Tea Party jumped back into the GOP and shoved them hard right and whatever left wing party could have pushed the democrats left.

With pop music, maybe. They arent written to be appealing in and of themselves. Pop music is a pretty strict style and structure with the same bass line and same few chords. Then they are played on the radio ad nauseum, so that when it’s first released you become familiar with the song enough to like it. As a batch of pop songs start to become old, another batch is released with similar style and structure. There’s hardly anything new.
In order to keep people excited about a pop song that went through that life cycle 10+ years ago, there needs to be more. Don’t forget that there are quite a few pop performers who rely on auto tune because they can’t sing in tune, so they are just lip-syncing on stage. I’m sure some of the spectacle is also to keep the performers going and energetic during performances of the same pop crap they’ve toured with for more than a decade.

They already overturned Roe v Wade and Thomas has said to bring cases to overturn marriage rights on the basis of race and sexual orientation. I’m a little surprised they aren’t also going after the right to work for the LGBT community, since we only just won that right in 2020.
They need to be taught that anything they use their school email address to log in to or anything on their school laptop can be seen by others. That’s the important lesson missing here.
They also need to be taught how to log out of their school accounts and use a personal account while on a personal device and not doing homework.
This can really hurt students who consider or are unaware of privacy risks while on the internet or on a school device.

People needed to get out and vote. To say gun control stopped democrats from voting Beto is insane. Beto lost by a mere 215,000 votes, that’s about 2/3 the population of a suburb in any of the metro areas. We need democrats to pay any amount of attention and engage voters here.

A large portion of the Texan population holds that their vote is worthless and won’t take 20-30 minutes to go vote. Beto O’Rourke was so close to beating Cruz and then last time Cruz was up for election of ~23 million in the voting age population, ~18 million were registered to vote, and ~11.3 million actually voted. There were some Trump voters that didn’t vote for Cruz, but we didn’t get enough Democrats out to vote and defeat Cruz.
It’s frustrating to see what all is at stake and still see people sit at home instead of waking up early one day to go vote when polls open at 7 AM.
Only immediate consequences. The gerrymandering they want to pass has the potential to screw the state and country depending on how the gerrymandering works and is perceived to work. I’m afraid this may make our voting numbers go down even more.
No telling what can happen if Republicans achieve their goal of solidifying a bigger majority in the US House. We’ve already seen that Texans are willing to keep Cruz in the senate, rather than spend 30 minutes voting.
I think they use covenant eyes, which sees every web page that you view and analyzes text and pictures on every web page. When there is something flagged as sexual on the web page, it sends a report to your “accountability partner”. Not sure exactly what’s on the report, but safe to assume it shows web address, date, and time that the web page was loaded.
