Depends on location. I wouldn’t leave my doors or windows unlocked in any major US city with a population of 100k or more. I live in NY but about three hours north of NYC in a small village of 2500. I never lock my doors and have no fears whatsoever.
I was a daily Reddit user for over a decade. However, the platform got so ridiculously judgy and restrictive that it was impossible to use, not fun, and caused me a lot of anxiety. I literally could not post the most innocuous of comments without being banned. It was infuriating and ultimately completely unnecessary. I miss the neverending content but it’s not worth the bad feelings that come with it. I still utilize it via Google search results when I’m trying to figure something out but for my own social media interactions I’m Lemmy 💯

This is a question we’ve faced in the queer community forever. As LGBTQ people there’s a lot of blur between sex/gender. Bars have gotten into hot water with the community over the years for being sex/gender exclusive.
However, in the instance of a sexual environment, like a bath house or fetish club, is such segregation legitimate? For example, I am solely gay and only interested in biologically male genitalia. I completely support trans men politically but if I am in a sexual situation I am only interested in men with penises. However, my husband loves trans men sexually and finds men with vaginas hot af. So IDK. I guess that if I went to a gay sex club and there were trans men there that’s simply not my particular jam, like there are gonna be other cis gender guys there that aren’t going to be my thing either. But ultimately sexual environments would be the only acceptable segregation I can think of off the top of my head.
Also, note that there used to be an incredibly important annual lesbian music event, the Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival, that ran from 1976 to 2015 that arguably died because of their exclusion of trans women. From 1991 forward the festival, which was on private land, had a trans exclusionary policy that divided the attendees.

I am personally not against the death penalty for some crimes if the culprit is indeed responsible but there are too many people in prison for crimes they didn’t commit already, so the burden of proof needs to be exceptional. Also, I’ve heard before that it’s actually more costly for states and tax payers to impose the death penalty because of all the built-in appeals, with the costs of the court system and attorney fees, than it is to house someone in prison for life. I further think that those convicted should have the option to choose the death penalty and type of execution for themselves, á la Gary Gilmore.

I don’t struggle to empathize. I’m downright gleeful these people are getting the instant karma they so rightfully deserve.
I have cut all Trumpers, friends and family, out of my personal life. I have to say, after the initial drama subsided it’s been much more peaceful.
As an American I fully support this. Our government is supposed to work as a bit of a push-n-pull, not a winner rape all, which is how Trump and the RepubliKKKans run things. I am anxious to see them and their policies fail asap, so please do as much damage as possible. I wish that I could renounce my citizenship and become a Canadian. I identify so much more with your country and values. Unfortunately I looked into immigrating about 15 yrs ago and I’m too old, lacking a tech degree, and not rich enough for Canada’s point system of immigration. (You get points based on age, skill sets, and the wealth you bring into the country and have to meet a minimum score.)
This is a good point. I don’t personally know anyone who watched it, as I am solidly in the anti-Trumpism camp. It’s already too stressful without rubbing our noses in his defiant stupidity and flaunting his unwarranted hubris.
