  • Something pointed out via a friend is that, while we like to shit on corpos for these layoffs, sometimes in the art/story field they (the employees) really are not needed or not desired anymore. Some places eant to hire a new storyboard person/team, or art directors to make changes to the existing items . The first guy made his impact, now the company wants changes that, as an artist, they just don’t see from their artstyle (of any medium like story, characters, environment etc) perspective. Think the botched Ecce Homo fresco as it was originally painted, and then the restoration - the original artist could not concieve of what it became and therefore is legitimately no longer needed. Paying him his dues and letting him go is the nature of it, if done honestly.

That doesn’t excuse hoarding wealth and trying to get out of paying severance, retirements, royalties for their work, and insurances, but while we often praise that one time Nintendos kept people on at the expense of the CEO, the question is “for what though” if it was a legitimate direction pivot.

But in general fuck epic because thats not what this is. This is almost always"line must go up" behavior. Just wanted to mention it so I can say “ah, there it is” when fortnite skin quality/story direction/landscape changes invariably catches up with and shows the result of these missing staff in a season or 2, as a direct result of these people’s layoffs.

  • A vehicle (according to their website) that is 61k base, 81k for awd (2024) and 81k base (2025) to 101k (loaded) is 10% or less of a discount. If it’s a sliding scale and you don’t get that “up to” 6k unless Loaded, that is barely over 5%.

Maybe videogame economies have spoiled my idea of “discounts” and pricing of real items but “priced to sell” means better than hearing 95% of normal. I couldn’t say what dealers actually call fair when it comes to actually selling cars in this bracket for a profit but 25% might get sales moving again. (It works for home appliances, why not cars?).

  • I swear. The harder they mess with this type of stuff the more single-issue-voters it pushes to vote against them. This war on media is such a losing battle I don’t understand why they’re opting to wage it with the current fish on the grill. This kind of unpopular legislation is stuff you try and push when you’re in power, and try to sell it as an “eat your veggies” moment. Rebranding while they’re down certainly makes for an interesting conversation when they rubber band back into power and say “we’ve said we were gonna do this since 2025” type conversation.

  • I think it’s more of a subsidizing thing. In the UK they get all these things and can’t budge due to pushback and culture, so they subsidize those costs with cuts to other places, like shrinkflation in the US, and other places. Costs went up to ship their foodstuffs all over the world, buuuut they enabled tipping at POS in the US, getting poor suckers to make up the difference (they hope)

Not an excuse, but if the US put in place the same things the UK has, fast food would lose their biggest cost subsidy for more expensive places like the UK, and prices would actually go up (because the corpo suits can’t take a fuckin pay cut obviously!)

  • There’s a host of rules to agree to, some of them are pretty silly, and are in place to keep the brand “pure”. “You don’t choose a Ferrari, Ferrari chooses you”

You have to prove you can afford a Ferrari by buying 2 other cars, “Honda Accord or better”. (This guarantees you have other cars to drive if the car is damaged, and proves status via taking care of 3 cars)

They do have an approved list of colors, just that red is iconic, and they want to do the paint themselves.

You can’t sell it in the first year. And if you own a Lamborghini you will be turned down. You can’t debadge it/alter the prancing pony because they “sold it to you perfect!”

Visit the factory/attend Ferrari events. Be part of the Family. And family is modest. Don’t be a shitty influencer constantly flashing your car.

  • Generally yes, they tell people not to repaint them and if they do there’s a sternly worded letter to change it back. If you do not they won’t sell you another Ferrari. You could find someone to sell you one, but anyone who third party sells a Ferrari is also blacklisted. (Since all sales technically involve you selling it back to Ferrari, then THEY sell it to the person)

You also agree to these terms (painting, not debadging, etc) when you bought the car. There have been some examples where Ferrari even sued over “use of vehicle for malicious intent”
