My first assumption was that it was only the Democrats voting, which seems to have been the case, as it was a DNC internal vote. If there were more than democrats voting on it, then to say that it was the democrats who were voting would seem to me to be unnecessary or misleading.
They certainly could have mentioned the DNC in the title to make it more more clear, though.
It’s honestly not even the worst way I’ve even seen it used.
I used to watch some League of Legends (I know, I know) streams from time to time, and there’s a meta where your mid laner, who is supposed to be a strong carry, gives up all their farm to the roaming jungler roll so they become the super-carry.

I’m in a country where there’s no legal precedent against torrenting, so it’s somewhat safe, but it’s still better to use one anyways. You never know when the laws might change, and it’s best if there’s no record of your IP/timestamp torrenting.
Either way, there’s a risk-reward tradeoff of not using one, but the risk is much higher in the US, and if you’re made an example of, it could be life ruining. You’ll have to decide for yourself if it’s worth paying to mitigate the risk.
It also reminds me of the incumbent NDP ridings we lost to the cons because liberal voters don’t do strategic voting, yet they expect progressives to.

In the article, the author quips on a tweet where they seem to fundamentally misunderstand how LLMs work:

ChatGPT is not a search engine. It does not scan the web for information. You cannot use it as a search engine. LLMs only generate statistically likely sentences.
The thing is… ChatGPT was over there, in the other tab, searching the web. And the answer I got was pretty good.
The tweet is correct. The LLM has a snapshot understanding of the internet based on its training data. It’s not what we would generally consider a true index based search.
Training LLMs is a costly and time consuming process, so it’s fundamentally impossible to regenerate an LLM in the same order of magnitude of time it takes to make a simple index.
The author fails to address any of these issues, which suggests to me that they don’t know what they’re talking about.
I suppose I could conceded that an LLM can fulfill a similar role that a search engine traditionally has, but it’d kinda be like saying that a toaster is an oven. They’re both confined boxes which heat food, but good luck if you try to bake 2 pies at once in a toaster.
God, that was a bad read. Not only is this person woefully misinformed, they’re complaining about the state of discourse while directly contributing to the problem.
If you’re going to write about tech, at least take some time to have a pasaable understanding of it, not just “I use the product for shits and giggles occasionally.”

This. Aviation has had an incredible safety record over the last 10+ years. That we’ve had multiple accidents, even minor ones, over the last several months is a huge departure from modern industry standards, and is quite concerning for the future of the aviation industry.
I wish they’d bring back proper ui mods. Installing stuff like tabmixplus or paxmod is like jumping through hoops of fire.
Also, I suppose one way to get cars off the roads is to leave them in such severe disrepair that nobody can drive.
That’s not the only point though. IIRC, they also remove telemetry, and pocket as well as some other things. I personally turn back on persistent sessions and history, but leave all the other privacy features there.
Asides from the kinda-shady crypto stuff and the other things that’ve already been mentioned, just philosophically it should be kinda evident that over-concentration on one corporate controlled rendering engine isn’t a good thing. Google wants the internet to be a walled garden with themselves as the sole decision makers so they can stuff ads down your throat.
Gecko’s web compat is bad largely because of this over-concentration.
I don’t normally get affected by celebrity deaths, but this is awful. Danya was one of the most kindhearted people in the chess community. As a commentator he made the game fun, accessible, and very entertaining. He was one of the very few people who both commentated regularly and still played at the highest level. He was a driven competitor, and was always a serious contender to win any speed chess event he was in.
What a huge blow to the chess community. :(
