Not to mention XDCC over IRC
I’m really hoping more adoption of Ubuntu Touch and other alternative mobile OSs will come from this, and with that, more support and development to make them feasible alternatives for the average user

I agree with this advice of having someone take a look at your resume. Way back, I had an older friend of mine with experience managing CV’s help me work on mine and even the base template of my cover letters. I’ve done a number of interviews, mostly unsuccessful though I’m happy with where I’m at now, and one consistent thing I’ve heard is that I have an impressive resume, and I’m forever thankful to my friend for helping me put it together.
I don’t quite agree on customizing your CV for every submission, but I do do this for my cover letter/correspondence.
Also, yes, reaching out directly to places you want to work with has worked for me a couple of times. If there are hiring/networking events for your field, even online ones, I’d recommend that too. Best success I’ve had landing interviews is through these kind of events and I’ve only done online ones.

Columbia University PhD student Ranjani Srinivasan calls accusations that she’s a ‘terrorist sympathizer’ absurd, telling CBC’s David Common that she feared for her safety after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials showed up at her door.
That’s the entire text with a 7 minute video on the page.
Newsworthy and valuable info in this climate, but I can’t be the only one who gets frustrated when a news site posts basically just a video and no actual article. Maybe just a personal gripe

I’m taking a sick day too. Except for the first time in nearly a decade, my current employer doesn’t require a doctor’s note for anything less than 3 days.
Honestly, most doctors just give you a note if you go in no matter what anyway, so I’ve always felt that it’s more about your workplace tracking you than trying to make sure you’re alright. The need for a doctor’s note doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. Sucky, relatable situation, you got my sympathy

I spent two years in Saudi Arabia in the early 2000s and was hearing stories like this even back then as a kid. I remember some kids even put on a skit involving maid abuse for some kind of social justice style project (I don’t remember the specifics) so it was a well known enough issue even then. Terrifying stuff and disgusting that they still hey away with it.

Citing what I saw on Philip DeFranco earlier, apparently in a shutdown the executive branch has a lot of power in terms of what specifics get shutdown and how.
Was news to me considering the shitshow that happens every time the budget needs to be voted on but with all the DOGEness going on makes sense that there’s extra caution around this. Still sucks that Dems rolled over so easily.

Deep? Can Musk and DOGE count as deep state with how new they are to government (if you can call DOGE that)? He’s not even from the US, he’s so far out he’s circled back around to deep state.
Then again, foreign actors blatantly controlling the white house seems to be the trend right now

I have immediate family in the US and one of the main reasons I don’t visit is because I am legit afraid shit like this or worse will happen.

Orange skin with paleness around the eyes is the new giveaway

Feel like the wording of this headline implies that all Gen Z is LGBTQ+
Not saying that would be a bad thing to be clear
Not me, I’m on a whole other continent, watching the blaze, hoping it doesn’t spread too far.

I’d like to say I did that on purpose to show how dumb they’d be renaming it, but it is I who can’t remember my East and West

True. Guess it’s more like them getting Google to change Greenland into West Alaska

Imagine being a tourist in the US, looking for an address you believe to be say, Martin Luther King Street. Can’t find it anywhere, even on Google maps, then eventually you talk to someone and find out it’s now called Elon Musk Avenue.
Not saying this is exactly the same, but if we’re letting people change the names of places on commonly used global map software willy nilly, even if it’s just region to region, we’re gonna end up with problems. It’s not like “freedom fries” back in the day that legitimately affected no one.
And I am suddenly seeing a parenthetical on the Gulf here outside the US, so there technically was a sudden change

I think at this point it’s more about what the case represents. I don’t know how exactly I want this to happen, but I do hope the results of his trial somehow creates positive changes in how insurance companies work.
Wishful thinking, but I think that’s the kind of feeling people have around this.

I’ve made many posts on many platforms wondering the same thing, especially for something like a watch that you want to be always on. Sure, amoled exists, but isn’t e-paper much better for that use case?
I’m even daily driving an e-paper android tablet for notes and reading and it’s awesome. A charge lasts me over a week with heavy use.
Also, not entirely sure of the exact tech for the original pebble, was it TFT? The RePebble site linked by OP talks about e-paper but maybe that’s just what they want going forward

The pebble time is still the best Smart Watch I’ve ever owned. Perfect with notifications, good battery life, easy controls, beautifully efficient e-paper screen. Can’t wait to see what they do now!

Agreed, this particular type of person I can at least feel empathy for. Feeling the system has failed and deciding that someone who will blow it all up is better than someone who will maintain the status quo.
I feel that people like your brother are in the minority though and most of Trump’s voters like his policies, and so I completely blame them, but that’s just my gut feeling, I don’t have stats or studies.
A bit of context for the Indonesian one, the way “moon” is used there is similar to month, so it’s basically “the time of the month is here” said as “datang bulan”
