I am a little confused by this, maybe I just have USA brain.
I’ve worked office jobs for over 30 years now. No employer I’ve ever worked for would forbid women from wearing skirts to the office.
If there’s more to the story and you’re dealing with gender issues then add that information.

I broke a CFL pretty early on and noped out of using CFLs.

God damn! They condemned him! That’s serious, right?

LED light bulbs were supposed to last a bajillion hours. When they came out around 2010-ish they were still expensive and I spent many hundreds of dollars replacing every single light bulb in my house, thinking I would basically never have to replace a light bulb again.
It’s 2026 and I now replace the LED bulbs in my house almost as often as I replaced incandescent bulbs. Seriously? LEDs are solid-state technology. There are no moving parts, no gases, no hot filaments…
I understand that it’s probably on purpose; if everyone replaced all the light bulbs in their house with LED bulbs that lasted basically forever then who would buy more light bulbs from light bulb manufacturers.
But it’s still just dumb. Either LED technology is flawed, or our economic system that incentivizes a constant cycle of replacing bulbs is flawed. This should should not exist in 2026.

I mean, of course they could.
But where’s the money in that?
I only have anecdotal evidence of what homeschooled people are like. I’m sure there’s a ton of nuance and some homeschooled children are probably taught by extremely intelligent, capable parents and some homeschooled children are probably taught by people who are barely even qualified to be a parent much less a teacher.
That being said… Every homeschooled person I’ve ever met has been what can only be described as “off”. These people become adults with very skewed social skills and even worse, their sense of humor is completely stunted. I think a well-rounded person needs to be exposed to the rest of the world and the people in it starting from kindergarten, and homeschooling cannot reproduce that.

Holy shit! BASHED? I bet he doesn’t do that again…

Yes, 100% the technology and skill is available today to clone a human.
The ethics are dubious and nobody with that technology and skill is going to attempt it. They’re working on lab grown meat and replacement transplant organs.

I wonder if they ever tried, ya know…making their food taste good?
They tried raising prices, they tried shrinkflation, they tried paying their employees as little as legally possible, they tried lowering staffing levels to the least number of employees humanly possible, they even floated the idea of surge pricing in fast food…but the whole time I’ve known Wendy’s to exist, at least in my area, the burgers have been bland and the fries have been soggy and tasteless. And I’m old enough to remember Wendy’s having a bland salad bar to go with the rest of their bland food.

The Military Industrial Complex has been normalized over centuries. Humanity just can’t stop killing each other. It’s an instinct that evolved to be helpful to survival at one point thousands of years ago but may actually mean the end of humanity soon.
AI and all of the resources it consumes have not yet been normalized to anywhere near the level of “Defense”.
Give it time and average humans will care just as little about all the resources consumed by AI as they care about all the resources consumed by war. Unfortunately I seriously doubt that it will go the other way around and humans will suddenly start caring more about the resources consumed by the Military Industrial Complex. That ship has sailed…
I’m replying from a Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro.
The phone itself is responsive. The software is clean. The Camera is pretty mediocre. There is no wireless charging.
I would prefer a phone with a better camera and wireless charging but that’s easily 2x to 3x the price. I always just but unlocked phones so this was a good mid-quality option.

How about the color corrected version?
Or is the original color variation part of the vibe?

Yeah, you’re probably right. I don’t even think Jim Beam has any information about age or years on it’s, um, plastic screwtop bottle.
Just to be safe though I’mma buy a few bottles in 2027.

So I know that Jim Beam is an entry level bourbon, and I know the story here is more about the tariffs and the relationship between the US and the rest of the world…
But genuine question: will 2027 Jim Beam be super good because it’s aged an extra year?

Yes. This.
Say what you mean and mean what you say.

If you’re romantically interested in someone, say “hey, I’m romantically interested in you”.
Do not have a “crush”, do not have a friend you’re secretly in love with, do not secretly pine for anyone. It is not interesting, it does not make you stronger, you are not the protagonist in a romance novel, and you are dumb if you want to try to “save our friendship”.
If the other person is not interested, say “Thank you for your honesty. It’s been nice knowing you” and move on with your life. Stop wasting time. Life is too short.
Say what you mean and mean what you say. Don’t waste precious time on imaginary scenarios.

You’re right, though. AWS has far more data centers/regions. Even if a company only uses AWS, they can set up High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions that replicate across AWS regions.
But they won’t because:

I don’t think we’re any closer to AGI due to LLMs. If you take away all the marketing misdirection, to achieve AGI you would have to have artificial rational thought.
LLMs have no rational thought. They just don’t. That’s not how they’re designed.
Again, I could be wrong. If so, I was always in support of the machines.
