Its always been when, capitalism is hostile to the mass of society, its also based on infinite extraction in a finite world.
Its no secret that I am a socialist, I hope that with my posts and replies that others may follow. If you like what I have to say I would recommend checking Cowbee’s comprehensive list credit to comrade @Cowbee@lemmy.ml for they’re work

Like with all tech, we will build the infrastructure with our tax’s, and Jeff will sell it back to us.

I’ve met some in this campaign who like AI, but they don’t take much convincing once the material conditions are explained. I’m sure most of those students will continue to use AI. 90% of the students I’ve spoken with so far agree tho. I’d imagine the education institutions are getting some form of kick back or guidance from AI firms/partners, we saw similar with PCs entering education, something silicon valley opt their own children out off.

I’ve been working on formal a socialist students society, our first and current campaign is fighting back against AI in the local college, the reaction from students has been electric. Students don’t want this, they know they are being deskilled, they know who profits.
Mine gets worse, this is a me problem though. Writing automated scripts that I forget about or give non descript names to 🤤

Capitalism will find ways to create capital, usually ending in rents. Neither free markets nor regulated can solve this as it is rooted in a contradiction.

Welcome to the future but honestly, android is liable to break, I’ve been rocking this for a year and had to a factory reset already. Luckily, out of the box it has all I need.

Fuck you Jeff!
I would call my brother a geek, a collector of shit, expensive cards, moulded plastics, I love him for it but I see it as vapid. Whereas I am a nerd, I research and act with caution when it comes to spending, I own a mechanical watch which I can repair myself, I buy leather shoes with soles that can be replaced at a cobblers, run Linux on my desktop, custom ROM on my phone.
Geeks are nerds who enjoy gimmicky things, nerds are geeks seeking purpose.

why isn’t this a feature on .ml :'(

Under workers control ;P
My mums funny with it, we met a few weeks ago and said she wanted a new (very expensive) watch and was particular with model and brand, I asked what had got her on to it, she said Facebook has been showing the watch to her for weeks, she later that day spend £3600 for that watch on finance.
I would feel used and like a sucker but she doesn’t make that same connection. Facebook are just showing her what she wants
Like most others here; I don’t see adds on my phone. Now when I use someone else’s, or a ‘smart’ TV or a library computer…
Using Debian as my main laptop distro, I am usually an arch user but figured with it being a light weight laptop I wouldn’t need arch, its been fine but installing updates can be frustrating, after a few weeks gnomes appstore breaks, then I need to use terminal to apt update, apt --fix-broken install.
