It’s a fantastic dessert. I have also made the topping from just some whipped cream and tinned coconut cream. Never skip the syrup!

Not sure about music but i do have a fav recipe. Layali Lubnan (Lebanese Nights dessert). I am wishing them peace too.
For a whilst there was a button at the top to view a random lemmy. It helped me explore.

Drives my crazy, and apparently throwing whatever i have in my hand; at a friend/relatives tv is not acceptable. Honestly and ad appears and it my instant reaction is to shut it the F up, and then usually to glare at whoever owns it like they are an idiot. I love hearing them explain why they pay tolerate it.

Thanks for taking the time to post a helpful instruction.
And that’s the problem, i live where there is a different political setup so i am trying to be mindful of the layers you guys have and how someone rises to power. I admit tv and media has in the past shaped what i thought was the case.
You are right. It’s something I am trying to figure where and how I make a difference. What force do I have. It’s more that I have been conditioned this think support of a parties policy is a way forward. My mind is shifting, but I am only one person.

I have not bothered with YouTube since ads and the stupidity at volume kicked in. So glad I am not trapped into it. Video content has a place but it’s bloated and predatory thanks to clickbait and monetisation. For that reason the good content gets lost/shunned on my behalf.

I’ll take a look. Thanks. I am just at the start and learning.

It still keeps their hardware in demand and pricier.

I would love to think its just a hardware and software issue, it is a habit issue too - i am keen to get away from my phone. I am starting to detest it.
But we do still need things that genuinely aid us. People do need maps. and bank apps on the go. I am trying to break my habits. I have been tempted to go back to a nokia flip but i need a map. I miss the days of flips, that satisfying clip closed. The actual physical act of opening it.
I will be moving to graphene pretty soon but its still a touchscreen, and even if i buy second hand it bumps google prices, i begrudge that. Jolla is too far away and a tad on the pricey side. Motorola is still another big brand just producing touch screen smart phones that lean towards bad habits. I would love a physical switch too.

Given they have been clear they want you addicted then it counts. Their days of being information were long ago. It’s tat now.

Because you have empathy. They have cruel and greedy intentions.

If the author has passed/sold the rights to a distributor then is reproducing it via an alternative method a detriment to the author?
They are are the ones agreeing to reproduction. If the author is the sole owner they reserve the right to recreate and distribute themselves. Modern day media has many owners of the process…who all seek rent from you to listen/watch. Who would you pay?
Have you seen Heretic? In some of the scenes Hugh Grants character explores the idea of originality and uses music to do that. If an song is inspired by another song does that mean you have to pay towards the original song?
You could spend forever rationalising who deserves payment. That’s why we entrusted distributors to put a product in front of us based on value of that product.

That’s a really good point, you are not stealing the core product, its a reproduction, and one that you are invited to rent, rather than own. Interpretation is key.
By the same thinking we reproduce and consume other things - words, memes, recipes and don’t consider that stealing.
My stance on the ethics of piracy is - the procurement of something is based on what is a fair value. If that commodity is available via several routes I will always play fair. If the provider tries to extort that commodity past fair then I will look to another provider - If you had a toll road that saved you 5 mins and charged $1 fair, if they then start to charge £25 - I will revert to the back roads, is that considered immoral?

Someone didn’t pay the bribe!
Good news tho.

I used to be mac in the 90s onwards so problem solving aint too bad. Moved to linux last year. I am done with ecosystem that are designed to be used against me.
Pixel + GrapheneOS is what I was eyeing up, i was just unsure how cosy graphene is with google, I don’t want to have to use google store.
I will have already been changing habits, its getting relegated to a true phone…hopefully with some stronger security VPN controls. If the services around me want to make it hard I will go back to the dark ages. I no longer use social media and everything else can be done on a browser/laptop where I have a higher level of control of my privacy.

Ok so looks like move of device for me. Apple iphone is my last bastion of big tech and I held off as I didn’t want to swap hardware. I’m not super clued on my options but I have been looking at sailfish or graphine.
I won’t be buying a brand new device I’ll purchase a used one second hand. I’m not fussy with which hardware. I am happy to use the browser, i need an average camera, and i like a map /music in the car
I do like Linux but don’t want an ongoing subscription for sailfish. What option or combination is good?

Unfortunately appeasement upwards has been taken advantage of over and over.
It’s logical to take a stance of ok what can we do to head off the bigger problem. But the truth is, over authoritative governments and tech businesses will overstep that rational offering. So appeasement needs to stop, and recognising this as the line is already occurring.
I am not gonna wish harm on the guy, but I really don’t have a lot of sympathy for a techbro simp.
The rest of the world will just buy Asian cars and get on with it.
