It was enabled and for some reason grayed out so I couldn’t disable it. Looked up several solutions and nothing worked so I just updated my bios. That ended up working.

I clicked on the KDE version because it said that would be closer to a classic “desktop” environment, and yes the Nvidia version

I followed every instruction on that page once it happened and still nothing. Even after a full reinstall. I’m worried it might be some bigger, harder-to-fix problem like something with my sound card. See my edit for a better update

I’m on an MSI Thin GF63. I don’t hear MSI laptops get mentioned often when it comes to Linux compatibility so I have no idea if this means I’m simply fucked or if all of my problems will purely be software issues. I’m installing Bazzite right now because I’ve heard it mentioned several times here.

I’ll give this a shot right now and update the post if the issue persists across operating systems.

could you store them through physical means? if so, consider what passwords you’ll likely need (if you can’t write all/most of them) and put them in a notebook? not qualified to speak on this at all btw just spitballing

Alright, absolute noob here, I’m not particularly interested in computer science or an OS I have to obsessively research. First, how is gaming on Linux nowadays? I play a lot of games, most of which are not triple-A, so I wonder how accessible this is. Second, what distributions are accessible and still customizable? I have all kinds of peripherals I’d like to be able to use, speaker systems, midi controllers, etc.

the sensors aren’t placed on desks, you can see that the displays are placed outside of bathrooms because that’s where kids generally vape. my high school has sensors inside the bathrooms on the ceiling and they don’t work. you’re thinking of a scenario that’s incredibly difficult and costly to implement, I assure you no district would be willing to hook this bullshit up to EVERY DESK. the term “Simon’s desk” here is likely just a name for one of the sensors they used to test this concept, with the sensor being located at the desk of a developer named simon
