Am I being paranoid that supplying your ID or face to use certain services will make it easier for the state or bad actors to identify activists? I haven’t bothered to read into this situation.

Like all of a sudden, reddit isn’t so private now (not that it really was before).

I use my (likely knockoff) Kobo that I got cheap from a shady online shop. Adding EPUBs is so damn easy.

I’ve just seen enough Wikipedia sockpuppet investigations, where the server admin can see what device you’re using. I’m assuming that they can often view your OS and device name, which indeed are easily changable.

This isn’t particularly helpful, but getting off of is gonna end up being a good thing, long term. There’s been a hundred incidents these past few years that have frustrated me on traditional social media. I was very annoyed at the time, but the end result was to get me off their terrible platform, and my mental health has been way better.

If you want to read reddit without posting, just access via old dot reddit dot com. There are browser extensions that do this automatically, which are amazing. You can even access NSFW stuff if need be.

If you need to post to again, you almost certainly need a new device. Reddit probably blocked your MAC address as well as your IP. But you’d probably need a new router cuz that has a MAC address as well. There’s weird ways to change or spoof MAC addresses, but AFAIK they’re not simple.

Maybe someone can correct me on the last paragraph, as I’m only 90% sure.

Honestly I feel a bit uncomfortable seeing nudity in films. I think “he’s this person who’s half my age, so agreed to take her clothes off and be filmed because her job required it”.

I know very very little about India, but it seems like the country is going the neoliberal route of Amerika, bringing some limited wealth, but a heap ton of poverty and stress/competition for those who do have a job. I admire India for their educational system, how hard working and responsibly their citizens are, and how much their country has grown since independence (a difficult feat).

I know that not every Indian is a BJP member, but that’s gotta be embarrassing frustrating as MAGA is in the US. I’ve seen some center-right Indian friends go hard right these last few years. This seems to be everywhere now, though, not just India.

I had a workmate develop a chronic illness after an infection of COVID, and he had to leave under hardship. People that hung out with him as best mates for years stopped talking to him in a matter of days.
