As someone who just bought car last year, I think Kia is the closest one serving that market. We made a list of potential cars that had what we wanted. It had to be under $35k and it had to have certain features without needing to subscribe to some service. We added a few Kiad to our list and I’ll admit they were quite tempting as they had everything we wanted for less than all the other cars on our list. In the end we ended up getting a Prius, but the Kias were pretty close for us.

I hate to break it to you but PFAs are in a lot more than just nonstick pans. They’re on literally anything that might be a tad bit on the non stick side such as dental floss or the cardboard under store bought cakes. They’re on nearly all water resistant products such as shoes, rain coats, and camping gear. They’re used as a fire retardant which means if you live near an airport, military base, or fire training facility your water supply is likely full of them. And even after all of this, we know that the factories that make and utilize these coatings don’t tend to dispose of them properly and taint the water supply in nearby areas. And if that wasn’t enough, these bonds have been found in water supplies and even rainwater around the world because they don’t break down easily.

TLDR: PFAs are in loads of products you may not expect, have proliferated worldwide water supplies, and don’t break down easily. This is about far more than nonstick pans and people don’t have a say in being exposed to them.

Tariffs and inflation are only half the problem in my opinion. For some items, prices have increased and continue to increase for those 2 reasons. But there’s a hell of a lot of items made right here on US soil that have increased far more than they should have. It’s the egg bullshit all over again. Companies are using inflation and tariffs as an excuse to increase prices as high as possible. You know how I know that eggs or granola shouldn’t cost $10? Because fresh local farm eggs cost $4.50 after they increased their price due to the cost of feed increasing. And I personally started making homemade granola and know that it doesn’t cost nearly $10 per 16oz for the raw materials. Bunch of greedy fucks making a bad situation worse.

I have a friend that works for TSA. A few days ago he showed up to work only to find that 27 of his peers decided not to. And considering they won’t get back pay, what’s the point? People need to feed and house themselves and the government has made it clear in the past that they’re not about to treat essential employees as if they’re actually essential.

I just started watching the new King of the Hill season and I gotta say it’s pretty good! Hank’s already got great lines like “I shouldn’t need to call tech support to make a burger.” Which is sort of how I feel about this ad.

I genuinely don’t know how chipotle has survived this long when excellent family run Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen all over the country and are super cheap to boot. I’ve tried it a few times and just never understood what people liked about it that you can’t get at your local Mexican joint.

I second the freezer meals! What I like to do is make things that I can make a very large batch of to make food prep easier when I want a quick healthy meal. My favorites to make are chicken pot pie, pesto, kale pesto, pulled pork (not healthy), and falafel. All of these things take lots of time and or ingredients. So when you make them, you make a big massive batch and then divide them into meal portions for freezing. This way all I have to do is grab 1 portion of say pot pie, thaw it out in hot water or in the fridge the day before, pop it in the oven with some pie crust or crescent rolls on top for 25 min and BAM, I’m eating stuff from my garden in the middle of winter with little to no effort!

I LOVE this sweet potato and peanut stew we found. We originally tried it when looking for easy camping meals, but it’s so good we just keep making it. I’m not even vegan, but it’s so hearty and filling. People we make it for often ask if we’re sure there’s no meat in it. Best part is it only takes 30 minutes to make and uses relatively cheap ingredients. I’ve had a different but similar issue. I have a VPN I log into so I can remotely access my work computer. If the VPN is on, YouTube won’t show me specific content that I know is usually there. It doesn’t tell me I can’t watch anything or tell me to turn it off, but some content is just missing 🤷

I hadn’t thought about it, but that would truly be the ideal situation. Imagine going to the store and all the eggs are from local’s extra stock. I know it couldn’t currently happen that way based on what regulations allow, but I can certainly imagine.

The fact that the upfront cost can be prohibitive and actual effort is involved but people are still doing it should tell you just how bad things have gotten. Plus, the more people that do it, the more they can teach others and help them out. I know people who got chickens after a neighbor got chickens and they saw how beneficial it was and if their neighbors can do it they certainly could as well.

They may actually be hurting themselves in the long run. The amount of people I know that have decided to get chickens since the pandemic has increased far more than I ever expected it would. And if you’ve ever had your own chickens before, you know that there’s plenty to go around and you share with friends and neighbors. So not only are they permanently losing more customers to people getting chickens, they’re also losing customers to friends of people that have chickens. Plus all these people are getting much higher quality eggs from happy chickens, so why would they ever go back? I know not everyone can, but, the more people that start raising chickens the better!

This is why I think it’s important to stoop to their level and start spreading childish rumors about them.
