Everyone has a bad alchohol (or something) expirence, its obvious to everyone that something like that happened and his brain (while on drugs) skipped a track. The emberassing part is that he insists on the sci-fi explanation, rather than the much more mundane normal waffle house expirence.

Under any other administration we would be like “The head of FEMA used to be a party animal, funny”, but now its just more on the pile of unqualified BS, the issue is that this guy runs the dept that helps people on the worst days of their lives.

Oh. Thats a can of worms… By that logic, no university which recieves taxpayer money should not have the right to regulate speech on campus, which given how student loans and grants function, means all of them.

But these universities are private entities not government bodies, even ones closely associated with states like this one here, and should be allowed to remove groups like this for a wide range of reasons.

Nah… My office does, and then pays a vendor to handle the issues (I work in IT, fixing those problems is literally my job) and they still cheap out on knock off toner (some of which works). It makes me sad…

Thats like asking what hammer is best. You can use most if not all to drive nails, but not all are best suited for the task.

Pop_OS lets Ubuntu drive fast and break things while focusing hardware/driver support, makes it great for video games. The only program Ive ever had issues with is Davinci Resolve, but those issues with linux compatibility are of their own creation, not the OSs.

For consumer grade yes, I look forward to seeing more people choose anything else (even Apple). For enterprise, lol, they have every Dell or HP house in the world by the balls. Atleast they ensured system admins have more job security (not lime that was in short supply anyway)

The Pinephone was a fun expiriment. I want that pinboard switch on other devices, but the linux dev/update cycle is very unconducive to the needs of most daily drivers.

Ive hosted my own TS3 server for well over a decade and matrix was spooled up this past year. They both are good products and server their roles, but they dont line up 100% with Discord and its user reach.

I am hopefull TS6 gets the funding it needs to get out of beta and I wish the Fluxer dev the best (they are going to need it).

What this whole discord debacle needs to teach people is how to be independent regarding your communications, data and their storage.

Also, given the state of affairs and the lack of trust, I dont believe they are cutting them off. Assume the worst and do what you can to decouple from the platform I dont expect people to quit cold-turkey, but put in the effort, it takes a long time to degoogle yourself and given how ubiquitous discord was during the plague, I dont fault people for making sure lines of communication and contacts arnt broken.

There are a lot of people in positions of power whos paychecks rely on them not understanding things.

Its purely out of spite, plus, im not clicking anything.

I run the full ad blocking suite anyway and see more ads watching a sportsball game with the family than I do on my home network over the course of months.

1. I dont see the ads
2. The data they generate is wrong and random, if that is used to train AI it runs the risk of poisioning the model.
3. The site Im on gets paid by the ad vendor, even though the interaction is fraudulent.

If someone is trying to build an ad profile on you (even if you personally dont see the ads) then it feeds them junk data instead of real date.

After what happened in Nepal last year, this 100% tracks with the dystopian narrative we are currently living. The powers that be saw a small country use it as a tool to affect change. To me, and tell me if I lm jumping to conclusions here, its obvious as to why this policy change is happening at all, to prevent the site from being used in that manner again.
