  • We were in SF a few months ago, and wandered around the Union Square area. I snapped pictures around the city because I actually adored it and sent them to my MAGA parents, telling them they promised me human shit on the sidewalks and hoardes of homeless people harrassing me, so I wanted my money back. I told them I was also promised looters and cars being smashed into right in front of my face.

They were not amused and said something along the lines of: “Yes well Trump has been president so cities are cleaning up their acts!”

They both live on the fucking east coast and have never even set foot in CA for a second.

  • Yeah I also love spicy food, from “moderate spicy” to “crazy spicy”. My husband surprised me with the Buldak Ramen that went viral for a second for being banned in Finland or Denmark or whatever. I ate all four of the packs after a time, but never repurchased.

But I like your comment because you highlight how hot sauces are a mixed bag. My all time favorite hot sauces are usually habanero based, despite that not being the world’s hottest pepper. They’re just like…the perfect general kick of spice.

I also tend to prefer certain hot sauces for certain things. Nando’s Extra Hot is fucking GOAT for all fried chicken things. Fast food nuggets/tenders, fried chicken breasts/wings, homemade fried chicken, there just isn’t a better sauce. I go through the large bottles easy. It just has that spicy tang that elevates chicken specifically, which makes sense because that’s what Nando’s is known for.

But then my favorite for topping pizza, or quesadillas, or mac and cheese or anything “cheesy” is Mad Dog 57. I find it hot to the point of discomfort unless the dairy is there to mitigate some of the heat. Its fire with anything cheese though.

But a good habanero spread on a sandwich, or a habanero based sauce drizzled over fries or breakfast tacos or eggs or like…pretty much anything? Chef’s Kiss Fucking perfection.

  • I canceled my Hilton Honors account.

Fuck they were SO GOOD for pet friendly travel.

But wherever there was a Hilton Garden Inn there’s USUALLY a Hyatt Place too, and they are also pretty reliably pet friendly. Not owned by the same people either, I checked.

Until I discover what they’ve done wrong as I’m sure its something.

Oof, glad I read this so we know what questions to ask/red flags to look out for if we ever do pull the trigger on purchasing a condo!

COA fees going from $110 to $930 is fucking wildly crazy work. Did they at least tell you WHY it shot up like that?

And its also crazy that special assessments cab be billed for that high per unit. We’d be fucked! I thought the point of paying COA fees each month was supposed to spread the cost of maintenance around/ensure there are savings in the bank to cover major repairs!

I’m also that coworker. Bought a 1995 build house in 2013, and sold it last year. Holy cost of maintenance. Roof, foundation, HVAC, plumbing, gutters, siding. We upgraded the windows too, so that was a choice, but nothing else was. Didn’t have money for professional interior upgrades because we were maintaining the structure itself instead.

If I ever buy a house ever again, it will be a condo so I’m only responsible for the INSIDE. As of right now, after all that, I’m happy renting. I’m so disinterested with painting and whatnot, that it doesn’t bug me to have white walls.

I do agree that the pet situation sucks though. We have 2 “aggressive breeds” that were strays we picked up off the street years ago (2016 and 2020), a Pit mix and a Dobie mix. Finding someone to rent to us with those was a chore. And for the few years we rented out our home (military. Lived in it while we were stationed there, rented it out for a few years, moved back in when we returned to the same duty station), we didn’t have a breed restriction.

We’re about to move across the country again, and I’m STOKED to be moving into an apartment. Rn we’re renting a SFH and it has been so nice knowing that money we had saved up isnt about to disappear because the water heater broke or whatever.
