We really should distinguish between a Algorithm, a LLM and AI
They are very different things, if you let a LLM run your nuclear reactor you’re in for a bad time.

I think it would boost the market for the real thing more.
It’s possible that there are people that would become into AI generated CP if it was just allowed to be advertised on nsfw website.
And that would lead some to seek out the real thing. I think it’s best to condemn it entirely

It used to be true that Windows is better for gaming. That’s no longer the case.
Since steam deck runs on Linux, they made a compatibility layer allowing you to play windows games on Linux.
I switched to Linux a few months ago and have been able to play all my games just fine.
(also dual boot is an option)

I still don’t see how the US can stop anyone from forking Debian etc.
Worst case scenario I can see is “The US implements martial law, no more trade what so ever allowed with anyone outside of the US and they put up a fire-wall to block all internet”
In that scenario we literally just pull Debian from the European mirrors, fork it and create NewDebian.
Problem solved.
Currently we heavily rely on Microsoft, Apple etc. If the US does the same thing, we’re fucked because we can’t just fork MS or Apple software.

They’ll stop receiving updates, but we don’t have to switch over in a week right?
Ubuntu is just an example {{insert any Debian based distro here}}

Debian is open source though. So unless they make it closed source we can keep using it.
Making it closed source would probably kill it and a fork would take its place.

Can’t we just keep going with Ubuntu and fork it the moment the US wants to do anything funny

We already have kDrive you get 1TB storage for only 2€ a month, it’s based in Switzerland

Historically liberals have always been right and eventually won.
Got rid of slavery. Got women’s rights. Got Gay rights. Etc.
I think swearing is good if not overused.
I’ve heard studies show that people who swear are trusted more, something about them coming across more open and genuine.

If they put a lot of focused on having a good UX and some marketing I could see it outgrow Lemmy the same way Bluesky outgrew Mastodon
I was about 12 years old, I woke up Friday morning 6am for school.
After school my friend and I bought WWE 2007 on PlayStation 2.
We stayed up all weekend playing and only went to bed 8pm om Sunday.
So 62 hours.

Yea I like this.

You’ve got to outlive your enemies

My mother tongue is Afrikaans (a sister language of Dutch) but I’m fluent in English, in a lot of ways my English is better than my Afrikaans because all the media I consume is English and my job has mostly been in English.
I love my mother tongue and I’m more expressive etc in it, it’s also allowed me to land a job that’s in the Netherlands, because I could learn Dutch really quickly thanks to it.
Both languages have been so valuable to me, I hope to one day expose my kids to a few different languages from a young age
This is the way

Occam’s razor disproves this to me.
It’s more likely that meta was testing censorship, but people caught on.
Than #johnOliver #bernieSanders #Democrat #proChoice etc. All being banned, but none of the conserve hashtags
As a start, there should be a law that no government organisation is allowed to use software they don’t have full control over.
We depend too much on Microsoft and AWS etc.
These things can be taken away from us, and is a threat to our security.
