And once prices are increased, removing tarrifs won’t make them go down again, because why would companies forego profit when consumers are used to those prices?

For one, non-voters would suddenly a Republican-lead Congress fail to fund the government.

Secondly, it throws a spanner in the DOGE arguments of wasteful spending, because they wouldn’t be spending at all and people would be negatively impacted by it.

Lastly, the “it would give Trump all the power” argument sucks, because he already has it. Congress isn’t (openly) fighting his abuse of EOs, they’re effectively allow him to be a dictator. A tangerine tyrant, if you will.
