You can certainly do one and not the other but yeahhhhhh the edgy jokes types don’t seem to handle their personal lives with much more, shall we say grace.

They didn’t include government surveillance in that. I don’t doubt for a second the Chinese government’s willingness to regulate hotel door locks and whatnot. Better question is how much resources go into enforcement (zero isn’t a terrible bet) and how quickly businesses respond to the new regulations (I honestly don’t know China in that respect but I could see an American hotel in the same situation waiting until somebody proverbially twisted their arm on the issue).

That’s a fantastic move but it also goes under “worst guy you know makes a great point”.

That’s why I mentioned it’s moreso his supporters plans. I think he’s too much of a narcissist to care about what comes after him.

I mean, his plans for a dynasty (or at least his supporters plans) are kind of reliant on US education falling apart.

I feel complicated about AI porn in general, but I’m not even all that offended about somebody with down syndrome having an onlyfans, provided they have the cognitive function to understand those actions, and I certainly have met individuals with down syndrome who do.

As somebody who left Facebook a decade ago I didn’t need told the company sucks. Feed used to consist of family members complaining about being temp banned for Nazi shit back when that wasn’t actively encouraged, or of course the aforementioned Nazi shit. Like, yeah, of course you got a temp ban for calling people directly things I’d feel uncomfortable repeating out loud in an empty room. Edit: like I feel gross repeating some of my various uncle’s bullshit in my own head.

Was going to say, very much seems like the opposite of a generational problem. Seems more like everything we’d vaguely define as ‘the tech industry’ has become big enough that it’s workforce now includes the individuals who wouldn’t have been considered competent 10 years ago.

That’d be true if it was business as usual but no, the responses for drastic direct actions are your fault.

I was boycotting them from the point where I quit the job in logistics. That job was awful.

I would’ve figured there were multiple standards and such requiring multiple drivers and maintainers, nonetheless manufacturers doing it themselves.
