Earlier this year, President Donald Trump described the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool as “absolutely filthy,” vowing to clean up the iconic landmark and make it “look gorgeous, beautiful” so it again reflects the federal monuments around it.
Yeah, these people are fighting an epic battle of good and evil and logic is aligned with the evil forces.
Talking to some of them, there seems to be a belief that even if everything looks like it’s going horribly wrong, then that must be a sign too that the plan is coming together differently than they thought…
It’s really fatalistic and tied up in the prosperity gospel/American mythos/calvanism. This can be a real shorthand for “everything is how it’s supposed to be because God controls the minutia of our lives so how about a thank you.” It’s how they whip the rank and file voters.
