It’s probably just not worth it. MS makes the vast, vast majority of thier money on Windows licenses from the corporate sector and OEMs. Any revenue “lost” to MAS is a rounding error on thier toilet paper budget for thier offices.

Both those posts on reddit are people being paranoid (especially the pchelp post, that user is self-admittedly ignorant), perhaps not wrongly, but it is open source and used frequently enough I’d imagine someone would have said something if there were issues.

Personally, I’ve used it probably 3-4x without any issues. Take that for what you will.

If you don’t have effective cooling, maybe, but I’ve never heard of any reason to keep core utilization under any specific percentage. Are your temps an issue?

I expect this will go like it did at the church I attended growing up. They’ll apologize, maybe even shed a tear or two then everything will go back to normal.

The only way to end this is to do something about the underlying system they teach that allows and condones behavior like this. Churches like this treat the leadership like they’re little gods, because to the flock (this is the term they use) they’re literally the voice of God. The pastor (usually) can’t be wrong because that would obviously mean God was wrong, and that can’t happen or the universe disappears in a paradox.

I don’t know what to do about it, but this is (part of) the problem as I see it.

Can I suggest reading documentation instead of asking LLM’s that are routinely known to just make shit up?

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Power_management/Suspend_and_hibernate says it’s possible with a swap file as the backing device but that swap to zram isn’t supported. I haven’t personally tried it though.
