  • Yeah, I agree. “Stuttering” doesn’t sound like a touchpad-specific issue. My guess is there’s something funny about Fedora, either drivers or kernel flags or default plasma settings, that just isn’t playing well with that specific device. I wouldn’t be surprised if another distro magically fixes it.

Edit: Or there’s a hardware issue. Gnome caused the device to grind to a halt?

  • I’m somewhere in the U.S. Our local politicians suck. I want to relocate. I supported someone last election cycle who was opposed to flock cameras, but they’ve completely fallen in lockstep with the established authoritarians since taking office. So I have been trying to avoid flock cameras on my route to work. But every time I find a minor detour, a new camera pops up. And even then, many of those detours are through residential neighborhoods, where every third person is a collaborator has a ring camera. My current route has me circling around the entire town before slipping back in on the other side. My commute has gone from ~20 minutes to ~40 minutes each way, which is just barely within my tolerance before I throw in the towel. There are several businesses I won’t even go to anymore, either because every possible route is surveilled, or because the business owners actively work against my interests (e.g. Whole Foods), which is actually good, since I find myself rabidly supporting local businesses, just as I should have been doing all along.

  • Unpopular opinion, but I actually don’t like the comparison. Not advocating violence, but if you’re going to shoot someone for political reasons, it’s not a good idea to shoot someone who can easily be turned into a martyr. This shooting seems counterproductive and, in my fallible estimation, will probably make the world slightly worse. Luigi picked a smarter target, one more likely to benefit mankind long term.

There are plenty of people whose deaths would make the world a better place, but many fewer whose murders would do the same.

  • I don’t hate flatpaks, but flatpaks require more disk space than the same apps from traditional repositories, and they only support a handful of the most common default themes. Since I only ever use older and slower computers, my disk space is limited, and I like to rice my desktop, I personally avoid them. But your use-case may differ.
