I would be totally fine with that. I suppose you are right and that’s a fair call out. I think I just don’t personally know anyone who would volunteer to receive AI content on their algorithms if they had a choice.

Avoiding ai content isn’t exactly a choice I can make currently. On virtually every streaming app, if I use any kind of recommendation or auto play function, ai comes up. Because AI music creators tend to release literally thousands of songs vs human creators who release a handful, even if the algorithms are randomized between available options, it skews heavily towards ai content.
So, yes, I want the owners of those platforms to remove the AI content altogether rather than just put a small icon in the corner of the song name or whatever.
Letting users choose for themselves isn’t exactly what is happening. Forced feeding of garbage would be more accurate.

I only care about this if they also have the functionality to block them from being recommended in any algorithms, or better yet prevent anyone from listening to it at all

I dunno on the music one. You are right human artists get paid shit but they also put out like an album a year at most whereas AI puts out literally thousands of tracks a year so theoretically with 100x more music, even if it’s only half as popular, should make plenty on streaming services.
Obviously it’s terrible music and we should all boycott music platforms that don’t aggressively remove AI content. But people are clearly doing it for a real, financial reason

Come on down from wherever you are from and get the ball rolling for us, id welcome you

Oh, I absolutely agree. But currently, the people in charge of making those decisions have demonstrated moral bankruptcy and will absolutely ensure the productivity gains funnel to the top. Until that changes, AI impact on jobs will likely be devastating.
And I’m all for changing it. It’s just going to be a long and/or violent process.

Even for people who generally like the function of AI (which seem to be fairly rare here) the absolutely obscene climate impact and implications for peopes jobs and livelihoods, privacy breaches, and general internet enshittification is surely reason enough to be against it.

Yeah unfortunate that it doesn’t, I imagine the market overlap for those two things is high

I’ve heard “rug” is weird for many Europeans

I tried to play it like a normal RPG and remember just trying to walk around the neighborhood to find every random person I tried to talk to would just beat me up for getting close to them so I noped out of it

I think most are carried by their modding communities at this point which can be so involved they fundamentally change every aspect of the game.
+1 for Bazzite, I did pretty much exactly the switch you are describing a couple months ago and tried mint first but didn’t love it for gaming (problems with my Nvidia card) but have had literally no issues whatsoever with Bazzite. It just works ™

I don’t view those things as exclusive, and I also don’t think everyone who goes to these does so for the same reasons. There are different objectives to each kind of political action, but for rallies, the main goal is connecting people with others in their communities who want to do political actions. So, people who do come wanting to effect political change meet others trying to do the same and learn more ways to do it. To be clear, we aren’t exclusionary, liberal organizations are present too. People meet groups who want to protest, groups who want to write letters, groups who go to legislative sessions, and groups who give them alternatives to liberalism. Most socialists or other leftists were once liberals, and for those people who are disappointed in Democrats I think it’s fair to present them with other options.
For the exclusive goal of showing up in numbers to show frustration at the current political climate, this is accomplished simply by being present and visible, basically. What to do with all the people who are present and visible is the next question. Sometimes it’s yelling at passing cars, and sometimes its meeting local orgs trying to drive political change in other ways

Democratic socialists of America and party for socialism and liberation. Basically socialist parties

To be fair, 50501 chapters can vary a lot city to city. I’m in a red city but our organizers are very left so we use the platform to push leftism. It isn’t like that everywhere though. Also we did a rally with speakers and tables, some places are just people holding signs with no agenda. It’s a grassroots thing so depends a lot who decided to organize it in your area.

Hi, No Kings protest organizer here. The point isn’t to change Trump’s direction, the point is basically a massive recruiting event for our local DSA and PSL chapters. Libs show up who are mad at Democrats and hear from leftist speakers and talk to leftist tabling orgs. Also there is mutual aid groups and such there.
Otherwise yeah totally not going to change Trump’s direction. But far from useless

Yes. Boycotts don’t need to be organized to be effective. Some (def not all, and not usually Disney for that matter) to listen to fan and customer feedback.
Companies track their income trends extremely closely. Even a blip of 1% will be reported on in every shareholder meeting and need to be explained.

Yep. My partner is basically the same as yours here. Too many niche communities on other social media and unwilling to give it up in spite of the ideological issues.
I think it’s just harder for some than others. I was never THAT attached to social media anyway so…this is fine for me. If I run out of content on my feed for the day its probably time to log off anyway
While I do generally agree, there are a LOT of companies that have their own special kind of evil, and ultimately if people are choosing between being employed and working for one, they will work for one. There simply aren’t enough ethical jobs for the number of people who would prefer to work for ethical companies
