protests never seem to work. contacting my representatives doesn’t seem to work either. i don’t think peace is the way to get change anymore unfortunately, but it’s a big ask to want someone to take a violent action that will most likely lead to jail time.

i feel you, i still have all my old photos from 2020 and before on google photos. the google takeout function didn’t even work for me, nearly half my photos were missing, so i have to manually download them i suppose. i get anxious still having so much stuff on there, but it’s so hard to migrate off especially after using it for a decade!
never too late to use another service to back up your photos! ente is a good alternative, i personally use proton drive (it’s kind of a crappy interface and not nearly as good as google, but it works). if you’re at all curious about self hosting, immich is basically a 1:1 google photos replacement.
i’m glad i never joined a gym when i was thinking about it around a year ago. it’s literally cheaper to save up to buy your own equipment (you don’t need the big stuff, but even then you can get it secondhand or something). i don’t work out anymore but when i did, i used body weight exercises (push ups, pull ups, etc.).

what an insane thing to say. the job market in the usa is genuinely hell. people with degrees, experience, and skills still do not get jobs even after trying for sometimes years.
many of us have mental illnesses that would put us or others in danger if we had a gun. trust me, i believe in arming ourselves, especially minorities, but what if one day i have no impulse control and shoot myself? im at a loss.
i consider myself an anarchist and i agree with many of the opinions people have on here, but like holy shit i just want to look at stuff that isn’t politics for once. like i feel like that’s all lemmy has. not that reddit is much better but there’s some hidden gem communities on there, but ive yet to find any here
not trying to be rude, but it’s easy to get tunnel vision especially with tech spaces. before becoming involved in tech i had no idea that linux was even a thing. most of these people need education, they just didn’t know their options. they didn’t “choose” to throw away their rights because they didn’t know they had a choice.
if only my alcoholic father fasted enough, maybe he’d still be alive with a healthy liver!
