It’s amazing how quickly this has escalated. It hasn’t been that long measles was considered eradicated and now we’re looking at the possibility of measles becoming a serious public health concern. I hope this gets nipped in the bud before we see upticks in mumps and polio.

Civics and economics are two subjects that aren’t treated with the rigor they should be in American high schools. Both subjects are usually taught by coaches as a placeholder to give them a faculty job so they can be on the coaching staff.
I’m reading this and thinking “this can’t be real”. How did we end up here? I really don’t get it.
Once I got in touch with someone they were helpful and professional. They’re just so understaffed you can’t speak to someone. The first three times I tried to call tye system message was basically “There is no more room in the queue. Please try again later. You will be disconnected now.” And I was.
My preparer didn’t e-file and I didn’t find out until 9 months after the due date. I had paid the taxes due electronically and had all the receipts so the IRS agreed I didn’t owe them. They just wanted me to file. Five years since the first notice and I still don’t have a final status. I’m guessing a lot of people simply won’t pay or file if they cut the staffing that much.
Here’s the kicker. The IRS won’t accept mail with a return response. You can send it and track it but you can’t be sure anyone actually received it. That happened on one of my attempts to send it via mail. It was received the second time.
It’s dysfunctional now. I’ve been dealing with a problem with my 2018 return because of mistake by my preparer. I tried multiple times over a two year period to reach someone on the phone with no success. On my last attempt I got to a person after 1 hour 45 minutes on hold. I sent the requested documents in November 2024 and still haven’t received so much as an acknowledgement in the mail.
Probably only in certain states. I don’t see most red states implementing something like this.
Until the USGS no longer exists.
I live in Louisiana. You can’t educate about vaccines here. Most people do not believe anything officials say about vaccines.

Historically the US economy generally performs better under Democratic administrations than Republican ones. I’ve read several articles and studies that show this. I’m on mobile and don’t have the time to find them However polls show that Americans consistently have the opinion that Republican admins are better on economics. And this despite no matter how much evidence os presented.
You are correct. And if Biden or Harris had been elected and we could he reasonably assured we’d continue on a stable path we’d probably be in a different situation. But Trump and team are a different story.
People that understand economics said that People who labor under the delusion that Republican administrations are better for the economy thought otherwise.
I know I’ve seen this on several websites today. What was everyone expecting? The only think I can think of is the old trope that Republican administrations are better for the economy. I have coworkers who were basically expecting miracles once Trump got into office. Things are probably gonna be bad.

I’m in Louisiana and Cassidy is toast. He’s not going to be reelected because of the impeachment vote. I was hoping he’d actually not cave but he’s towing the line for no reason. The whole thing is over in 4 years we’ll probably be a lawless wasteland with rampant corruption and disease.
