The truth about the “replacing everyone with AI” is even more boggling. Bezos didn’t “replace” anyone with AI when he laid off all those people. What he did was look at the cost of “salaries” vs the cost of “building an infrastructure” for AI, and decided gambling on AI was cheaper than paying the workers he’s employed.
The idea isn’t that it’s “better” or different,” the idea is getting another player in the game.

For your second point/option: I agree something like this will happen first. But I don’t know if it will be a cancellation on all “fronts.” Microsoft’s CEO stated they HAVE the (DIM) RAM, but they DON’T have the GPU’s. So Nvidia is behind on manufacturing, but Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix have actually got the stock, they’re just ONLY selling to corporations right now (or arbitrarily inflating prices for consumers to meet the inflated price they’re selling to corporations who already have more than they need, but refuse to stop buying).
Just another day in corporate America. Putting fake profits over employees’s well-beings, and customer safety and privacy.
The thing that gets me is they just want to get in on this $2Billion investment that keeps changing hands without changing hands. They really are just taking IOUs from… elsewhere? Because apparently, according to Jensen, that money hasn’t actually exchanged hands. Investors are just buying into the new Ponzi Scheme.
I like the idea of this. It think 100% of Americans in their right minds should agree with it…
My issue is how do we expect this to be adopted let alone be enforced? Like, this is cool, but is it going to do anything? Or are Dems just throwing this out there so they can keep saying, “See!? We’re still better than those guys!” While still taking it up the ass from the GOP?
And do I, a Lemmy user, have all the answers in how to change things? I don’t think I personally do. But we’ve seen Dems start to fight back and fold already. Just look at your health insurance premiums. Remember that lock-out? Look at this most recent “shutdown” that lasted like 24 hours.
I think the most frustrating thing to me is that the ONE person I’ve overheard explaining why we “just had to” bomb and kill civilians and children was justifying it with the threat of nuclear bombs because we “can’t trust them” to uphold “Fatwa.” Which is stupid for many reasons that I shouldn’t have to get into: but the one I will is that “sure, we can’t trust our enemy, so let’s kill the civilians we said we were going to protect from that enemy.”
I’m frustrated to see that number ONLY be at 59%.
