So many people don’t understand soft power, or how much of it the US used to have. Now all they have is hard power, eg. sanctions and military action. And who would bother with either of those for a few tens of millions in fines? So now all the things America could do while saying cough USAID cough just aren’t going to happen without much more pressure, which oftentimes will simply not be worth it.

So, we have a choice between the pro-union AI and the people running America right now. Tell me again how this would be worse?
I get what the parent poster is trying to say, but a computer with no concept of empathy might emulate it now and then, whereas the people who actively avoid it won’t.

I was wondering about this. I remember ads from before 2000 where a single was 4 oz/quarter pound* *before cooking.
Here’s an ad from 1985 where they specifically say it’s a quarter pound single burger.

Is this my first AI guillotine?

I was in an accident once. Another driver did a blind right turn into the center lane in front of me, past a stopped bus in the curb lane. There was no issue assigning fault because the bus driver had a dash cam with the ability to record on demand. If things worked like you would like, that wouldn’t be the case.
There are perfectly valid reasons to record dash cam footage other than an accident you are personally a part of. And any issues you have with dash cams could be almost as easily, if not more easily, done with another camera-based device.

It might surprise you to learn, but we were getting from point A to B for a long time, and there are people even today who get headaches from cars, and not even from the noise, which was much worse with early cars. Do you think sitting near an engine with almost nothing between it and you was a relaxing experience, or risking death just starting it was a big sell?

You just described everything wrong with cars when they first came out. Large, uncomfortable, slow, needed expensive infrastructure/hardware. And look at cars now. Size hasn’t improved, but everything else has (well, the infrastructure is in place now), and you can’t get away from them.
Im saving up for a Steam Frame. Even if it just operates as a screen for my Steam Deck, that’s enough for me. Add in some freestanding VR, and maybe a new computer that can handle VR in the future, and I’m as happy as can be.
I’m not saying your opinion is wrong, just not universal, and we are still very early on in the VR/AR market.
…but if you don’t want to see it you can block it, and it won’t matter if it gets to the front page…

If nothing else happens, either in this instance or in future arrests, his rights were still violated. Is that okay to you?

I first saw this used by Hugh Hefner in some reality TV show with some of his bimbos in Venice. One of them said how cool it was to be where Al Capone was born and he responded with, “You’re so pretty.” Of course, she absolutely took the compliment at face value.
I had a teacher who would give two points for each correct answer out of, say, 47 questions. So the highest score you could get was 94%. This was for a math test.

It has been like that since Volta started making stacks of different metal plates and making dead frogs dance. It might surprise you to learn that making subatomic particles dance to our whim at a pace we determine isn’t very easy. We try all kinds of neat ideas to make them do this, and some of them even work. The fact that people like you see all the times we try and it doesn’t work as an indicator that we aren’t trying very hard rather than researchers trying very hard and not always being as successful as we’d like is more an indictment of you than it is of them.
Also, unlike when I started watching advances in batteries, you can find the history of rechargeable batteries with just a few minutes of web searching. If you had put in even that little bit of effort, you would know that advances in rechargeable batteries neither started nor ended with lithium.

Isn’t the joke that every girl there has more than passing familiarity with their brother’s or father’s?

One could argue removing financial power from people who would use it to harm those around them is the ethical choice. Obviously, it would be more beneficial to scam the wealthy, but scamming those who give to the wealthy that would harm others could be framed as pre-empting that gift.

Yeah, it really depends on the location. Both heating and cooling batteries are a problem where I live, and these batteries would need a lot more protection where I live.

And it is an option. It’s just completely orthogonal to what is being discussed here.

The point of going low density is to reduce cooling requirements. Cramming them into a shipping container is the exact opposite of that.
So this is why all my posts never showed!
Just kidding, I just almost never post, but I do use a VPN almost all the time.
