That’s not how that works. An order can be legal whether these attacks are legal, extra-legal, or illegal (they’re extra-legal or legal). Congress has given the president power to perform some military actions without their approval. Their approval is needed to declare war, and they’re required to be notified of the president taking certain actions (which they weren’t at the start, making what the president did illegal, but not the soldiers).

This isn’t defending the actions. This is only a statement of fact, letting you and others know you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about when you use this saying. Yes, they can (in fact, they must) refuse illegal orders, but that doesn’t mean what you’re implying.

  • They are unrelated things. It has nothing to do with “what we feel”

I didn’t say it did. I just said it’s more useful for that. Whether it was on purpose or not, 100 and 0 are when it’s dangerous. Before those it can still be, but beyond them you really need to be careful.

Celsius is also arbitrary. There’s no particular reason water, at sea level, is used for the scale. It was just chosen. If you’re measuring water, it’s great. Otherwise, there’s nothing that makes it “better” than F. It’s not easier to convert to scale to higher or lower numbers or anything, which is what the metric system usually has an advantage with. They’re both just scales.

I’ve been playing Stationeers a lot lately. (It’s a game about managing a station on another planet, and simulates liquids and gasses really well, following the ideal gas law, and phase changes, and all that good stuff. I highly recommend it, and the devs are great.) In that you use Celsius and Kelvin, with you often needing kK or even larger. It wouldn’t make sense to use F, because it’s hard to switch between F and K, but C and K are the same, with K just being 274.15 higher. I have no issue with C, but this type of use is the one place it’s better, and no one I know would ever have to do this.

  • For temperature, not really. Both Celsius and Fahrenheit are useful for different things.

Fahrenheit is great for what we feel (it’s related to body temperature for the high end, and the freezing point of brine on 0).

Celsius is great for cooking, or applications where you care about what water is doing (0 is freezing, 100 is boiling).

Neither uses different scales, like other metric units increasing by 10s (at least, I’ve never seen anything like kC). If you’re doing that, you’re using Kelvin, which is a fundamental base temperature, where 0 is actually 0, which makes more sense for physics and math, but is less useful for what we feel.

I think the US should switch, just to make it easier to communicate, and other metric scales actually are better. C and F are both equally useful for different things though. Neither is actually a better scale.

  • For the “get out” thing, it could be nothing. I think I’ve said some stupid stuff being “woken up” but not actually being conscious. I don’t remember those moments, but I think I can definitely speak and do things without actually being awake. That could be nothing. The ghosting is the real issue. That is a choice. If they’re being rude or choosing to do things that you don’t like, that’s a sign to leave.

If you really want to give it a shot though and think it’s a misunderstanding, or want to clear things up, or get your possessions back, or whatever, get a coffee or something with them in public. Feel it out in person. You’ve currently lost nothing of value and have nothing to lose really. Just don’t attach more to it than it has. You hooked up with someone. It doesn’t mean they’re in love with you. So far, it sounds like you’ve had no more than a date with them. Just because you had sex, don’t treat it as more than that. You don’t know each other.

  • You’re right that asking a user for a date is next to useless. However, that isn’t a reason to not fight this stuff. Asking the user for the date is step one to getting people accept it. After that they’ll point out that people were lying, and they’ll need our government ID to verify (and link us to activity). It’s all a step towards a surveillance network tracking every move you make on your computer.

It’s a computer with standard computer hardware, so you can install anything on it. It’s Linux by default though, and with packages specifically curated to make it operate well. I don’t know how many distros or OSs work well with the hardware out-of-the-box.
